Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about our service.

General

Is my vehicle driven during shipping?

Only as much as needed to load and unload it from the transport equipment, and for pickup or delivery when local regulations require it. The vehicle is not used for any other purpose.

Do you offer door-to-door delivery?

Yes, that is our standard service. In areas with narrow streets, municipal restrictions or limited access we arrange a nearby, safe meeting point.

What if I cannot be there for pickup or delivery?

You can authorize a third party to sign the Bill of Lading on your behalf. If no one can receive the unit, it goes to the nearest terminal and we schedule a new delivery.

Can I leave personal items in the vehicle?

Up to 100 pounds is allowed, always at the customer’s risk, with prior notice and an additional fee. Personal items are not covered by transport insurance.

Can you transport a vehicle that does not start?

Yes. It requires a winch and additional labor, so an extra charge applies and will appear in your quote.

Does the shipment include insurance?

Ground transport includes the carrier’s coverage. For ocean legs we offer optional marine insurance, quoted on the declared value of the vehicle.

How long does a shipment take?

It depends on the route. As a reference, an ocean shipment from Jacksonville or Pennsylvania to Puerto Rico takes 3 to 7 days once loaded. These are operational estimates, not contractual guarantees.

Do you transport vehicles bought at auction?

Yes. We need the VIN, stock number and buyer number to coordinate pickup directly with the auction.

Export

Can I export a financed vehicle?

Yes, with an authorization letter from the lender and a copy of the title. We recommend requesting it early because it usually takes several days to arrive.

Do I have to pay duties in Puerto Rico?

Yes. Duties are paid before releasing the vehicle from the port. The Treasury Department issues the corresponding payment documents.

Is marine insurance mandatory?

It is not mandatory, but it is recommended. Once the policy is issued it is non-refundable.

What do I need to ship from Puerto Rico to the United States?

A duplicate title issued by DTOP is required, along with the owner’s identification.

Is there a discount for multiple vehicles?

Yes. Multi-unit shipments are quoted individually; contact us with the details of each unit.

How long is my quote valid?

Seven days. After that the price may change based on rates and availability.

Ground transport

What type of truck do you use?

Open carriers are the standard and hold 8 to 10 vehicles. Enclosed transport is also available, with capacity for 4 to 6 units and a hydraulic door, at a higher price.

What if my vehicle arrives damaged?

Inspect the unit before signing the Bill of Lading, document any damage with photos and make sure the driver signs the notation. That record is the basis for any claim.

How long does ground shipping take?

It varies with distance, weather and equipment availability along the route. Your advisor gives you an estimate when the shipment is confirmed.

How do I prepare the vehicle?

No fluid leaks, a quarter tank of fuel or less, alarm disabled and no loose parts or accessories.

Can I take the vehicle to the port myself?

It is possible, but usually not worth it: port and storage fees tend to exceed the cost of the ground leg we coordinate.
